Short Bios of 2019 Presenters

Kristen J. Aycock, PhD (Psychologist)

Dr. Aycock received her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State University in 2011. She is currently in private practice at Perspectives Counseling Inc. in Atlanta, GA; as well as serving as a Licensed Psychologist at A New Start Counseling Center, Inc. in Fayetteville, GA. She has presented at the local, state and national level.

 

Gary S. Bauman, PhD, NBCC, LPC, CPCS

Dr. Bauman received his Ph.D. in Counseling from Georgia State University in 2000. He is currently a professor of psychology and the graduate program coordinator at Brenau University; as well he is in independent private practice in Braselton. Dr. Bauman has presented at numerous conferences at the state, national and international level.

 

Susan E. Belangee, PhD, LPC, NCC, ACS

Dr. Belangee received her PhD in Counseling from Georgia State University in 2003. She is currently serving as the President of the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology; she is in private practice at Canton Counseling in Canton, GA; and is a faculty instructor for the International Committee of Adlerian Summer Schools and Institutes. She has presented at the state, national and international level.

 

Pamela Corsentino, MS, LPC

Ms. Corsentino received her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and Applied Gerontology from Brenau University in 2015. She currently serves as the director of support services for the Lewy Body Dementia Association in Lilburn, GA. She has presented at the local and state level. 

 

Dawn M. Echols, MS, LPC, CPCS

Ms. Echols received her Master of Science in Clinical Counseling & Psychology from Brenau University in 2008.  She is currently the owner and executive director of Dawning Phoenix, LLC.  She has presented numerous advocacy presentations in forums and classrooms as well as at state conferences.

 

Caroline Fernandes, MS, CCHT, CHWLC, CEP II

Ms. Fernandes received her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University in 2016. She currently works as a graduate research/teaching assistant, a grant project assistant and interviewer at Mercer University; as well as a therapist at Compassion Cove Counseling. She has presented at local, state and national conferences.

 

Michele R. Frey, Ph.D., NCC, LPC, CPCS, ACS, DNASAP

Dr. Frey received her PhD in Counselor Education and Practice from Georgia State University in 2007. She is currently in private practice at Frey Counseling and Consulting Services, PC; serving as an adjunct instructor with Mercer University’s PhD Counselor Education program, Master’s in Community Mental Health, and Bachelor’s Criminal Justice programs, and is on the editorial staff for the Journal of Individual Psychology. She has presented at the local, state, national and international level.

 

Aimee Hicks, MS, LAPC, MAC

Ms. Hicks received her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling from Mercer University in 2018. She currently works in Griffin, GA at 1st Georgia Counseling Centers. She has presented at local, state and national conferences.

 

Jody E. Housker, PhD, NCC, ACS, NBCCH, LPC

Dr. Housker received her PhD in Counselor Education, Supervision and Practice, from the University of South Dakota in 2000. She is currently in private practice at 31 Stories LLC in Atlanta, GA. She has presented at the local, state, national and international level.


Devin Mathews

Mr. Mathews received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of North Georgia in 2017 and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree. He has participated in speaker panels and poster sessions at conferences.

 

Brandy K. Nicholson, MA, LPC

Ms. Nicholson received her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA in 2015. She is currently in practice at Bridging the Balance, LLC in Acworth, GA.

 

Elizabeth Kaye Norris, MA, LPC NBCC

Ms. Norris received her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Richmond Graduate University in 2014. She is currently in private practice at TANUN Counseling & Consulting, LLC. She has presented at state and national conferences.

 

Tara Overzat, MS, LPC, NCC

Ms. Overzat received her Graduate Certificate in Diversity Studies from the University of North Georgia, Dahlonega, GA in 2016. She received her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University in 2011. She has served as the Assistant Director of Multicultural Student Affairs at the University of North Georgia. She has presented at the local and international level.

 

Stacy Daniel Sampson, MS, NBCC, LPC

Ms. Sampson received her Master of Science in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University in 2008. She is currently working in private practice at Oasis Counseling Center in Athens, GA. She has presented at the local and state level.

 

Richard E. Shook, PhD, PC, Psychologist

Dr. Shook received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Georgia State University in 1993. He is currently in private practice in Marietta and Atlanta, GA; as well as serving as an assistant and adjunct professor at Life University.
