This workshop will explore how an understanding of narrative enhances Adlerian counseling strategies like lifestyle investigation using pop culture films, case studies, and live demonstrations. Active participation is encouraged in discussion and demonstrations.
This workshop is designed to help you: 1. Identify numerous narrative elements and how they relate to Adlerian Psychology. 2. Analyze film and other literary modalities through the lens of Adlerian Psychology. 3. Verbalize ways in which an Adlerian understanding of story impacts lifestyle investigation and therapeutic interventions. 4. Describe how early recollections, dreams, family constellation, etc. contain narrative elements. 5. Discuss live demonstrations & case studies that further illustrate the importance of a narrative approach to Adlerian counseling/psychotherapy. 6. Utilize narrative approaches to Adlerian counseling in your work with clients.

In 1980 a group of mental health experts formed predictions on what the next decade would look like for psychotherapy. Experts have continued to gather with the most recent meeting in 2021. What will psychotherapy look like in 2030? What changes and challenges are coming?
This workshop is designed to help you: 1. Describe the history behind the Delphi method and the Delphi Psychotherapy panel. 2. Discuss some of the past and present findings from the Delphi panels regarding psychotherapy. 3. Analyze ideas and concerns about the future of psychotherapy along with sharing of goals and outcomes with thoughts on the Adlerian approach.

This workshop will delve into the discussion of race/ethnicity and its impact on the therapeutic space. It will explore how Adlerian concepts can assist with becoming more culturally competent with clients of differing ethnic backgrounds. Lastly, it will address clinician biases and encourage advocacy on the clinical and community levels.
This workshop is designed to help you: 1. Recognize Race-Based Trauma and its impact on clients and the therapeutic relationship. 2. Identify and acknowledge racial biases to strengthen the therapeutic relationship while implementing multicultural boundaries. 3. Identify and implement advocacy strategies for clients and the community.

Integrating Media into Therapy

This presentation explores how to incorporate media whether it be television shows or movies into the therapeutic process. Through identifying and processing a client's experience watching a character's conflict or use of skills the therapist can assist the client to find therapeutic benefit, relating the content of the media to client’s own life. This presentation will assist in identifying how this process can be a helpful additive for clients who may be stuck or detached from their own emotions.
This workshop is designed to help you: 1. Describe purpose and intent behind incorporating media into your therapeutic practice. 2. Demonstrate ability to integrate common therapy topics with media examples to promote processing. 3. Identify ways you could apply concepts to past or current clients on your caseloads.
