Presenter Bios



Kristen J. Aycock, PhD (Psychologist)



Dr. Aycock received her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State University in 2011. She is currently in private practice at Perspectives Counseling Inc. in Atlanta, GA. She has presented at the local, state and national levels.



Susan E. Belangee, PhD, LPC, NCC, ACS, DNASAP



Dr. Susan Belangee received her PhD from Georgia State University in 2003. She is currently the Executive Director of the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology and in 2023 she launched her consultation and training business, Dynamic Growth Counseling and Consulting Services, LLC. Susan presents locally, nationally, and internationally on topics including Adlerian psychology, eating disorders, working with clients who identify as LGBTQ+, and using the BASIS-A Inventory in multiple settings.



Gary S. Bauman, PhD, NBCC, LPC, CPCS



Dr. Bauman received his Ph.D. in Counseling from Georgia State University in 2000. He is currently a professor of psychology and the graduate program coordinator at Brenau University as well he is in independent private practice in Braselton. Dr. Bauman has presented at numerous conferences at the state, national and international levels.



Dr. Michele Frey



Dr. Frey received her PhD in Counselor Education and Practice from Georgia State University in 2007. She is currently in private practice at Frey Counseling and Consulting Services, PC serving as an adjunct instructor with Mercer University’s PhD Counselor Education program, Master’s in Community Mental Health, and Bachelor’s Criminal Justice programs, and is on the editorial staff for the Journal of Individual Psychology. She has presented at the local, state, national and international level.



Stacy Daniel Sampson, MS, NBCC, LPC



Stacy has presented at the GSAP conference every year since 2018 additionally, she has presented at Brenau University, University of North Georgia, and at the University of Georgia as a guest speaker. She is an LPC with a certificate in sex therapy and is EMDR trained. She is the owner of Oasis Counseling Center and specializes in working with trauma survivors, sex therapy, and chronic illness.



Jody Housker, PhD, NCC, ACS, NBCCH, LPC



Jody Housker received her PhD in Counselor Education, Supervision and Practice from the University of South Dakota in 2000. She has been in private practice since 2005 in Atlanta, GA. Prior to private practice she taught master's level counselors at two different universities. She has presented at the state, national and international level.



Tara Overzat, PhD, LPC, NCC



Dr. Overzat has presented on the topic of LGBTQ+ matters and counseling at the national, state, and local levels. She has co-presented Safe Zone trainings (LGBTQ+ focused trainings) at the University of North Georgia and presented on issues of counseling LGBTQ+ individuals for colleagues looking to expand their working knowledge of this population. Dr. Overzat has lived experience and has worked professionally with counseling LGBTQ+ individuals for 9 years. She is the CEO and Primary Therapist of Getting Overzat, LLC (https://www.gettingoverzat.com/) and specializes in working with LGBTQ+, international, and immigrant clients.



Jacob "JD" Dreiling



Jacob "JD" Dreiling is an Associate Professional Counselor (soon to be fully licensed!) in the state of Georgia, a Play Therapist, and a Certified AutPlay Therapist. He is a doctoral student at Georgia State University for Counselor Education and Practice. He works with children, teens, families, couples, adults, and seniors utilizing experiential techniques to help clients gain insight and become agents of change in their own lives and the world at large. He is a part of the Geek Therapy community, soon to be teaching faculty for the League of Extraordinary Adlerian Play Therapists, serves on committees for the Georgia Association for Play Therapy and the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology, and is a trainer in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. He and his husband have been playing D&D for sixteen years and he has been facilitating therapeutic D&D for the past year and a half.



Monique R. Darnell, MS, LPC, LMHC



Monique R. Darnell, MS, LPC, LMHC is a Licensed Professional Counselor who provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapy to women navigating anxiety, depression, chronic stress, and burnout. Her clinical work is especially centered on supporting Black women who have spent much of their lives in survival mode and are ready to build healthier coping strategies, strengthen boundaries, and reconnect with emotional self-trust.Monique specializes in treating trauma-related concerns, complex family dynamics, relationship challenges, and faith-related harm, with additional clinical experience addressing borderline personality features and emotional regulation difficulties. Through an integrative approach grounded in compassion and evidence-based practice, she creates a supportive space where clients can slow down, feel safe, and engage in sustainable healing without the pressure to “stay strong.” Monique is committed to empowering clients to reclaim their voice, restore balance, and cultivate a life rooted in stability, authenticity, and emotional wellness.



Erika Walker, LSCSW, LCSW, LICSW, RPT-S™, CAdPT-A, GTC



Erika Walker is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (licensed in Kansas, Missouri, and Massachusetts), as well as a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and Geek Therapy Certified. She also has an advanced certificate in Adlerian Play therapy. Erika received her master’s degree in Social Work from Newman University in 2013 and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Religious Studies from The University of Kansas in 2006.

Erika strives to offer her clients the utmost quality of care. She aspires to be a resource for all communities and to serve in respect to all communities. Erika explicitly welcomes BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, and all abilities into her office. She endeavors to help all of her clients form a cohesive sense of self, regardless of what their presenting struggles are. Erika’s practice embodies the principles of social justice, anti-racism, therapeutic humility, and cultural inclusion.

She works with toddlers, children (up to age 10), adults, elderly, and families through a combination of respect, knowledge, and compassion to promote personal growth and development. Whether a client is struggling with navigating a neurotypical world while living with ADHD and/or Autism, anxiety, a developmental delay, family relational problems, or any number of other struggles, it is her goal to guide the client and/or the client’s family through individualized goals to improve their quality of life. There seems to be a point in each of our lives where we need guidance and someone with whom to talk. She has chosen to be that ‘someone’ that will assist her clients on their path to a fulfilling and mentally healthy future.



Dr. Willie Roy Cameron, L.P.C.,M.A.C.,C.P.C.S.



With over 20 years of practical experience working as a therapist in the educational and community setting. My educational background includes the following: Masters in Criminal Justice, Masters in School Psychology, Masters in Counseling, and a Doctoral Degree in Experimental Psychology. I have worked as an Adjunct Professor in the Criminal Justice and Psychological fields. In reference to clinical practice, I worked at the Federal Prison in Atlanta from 1999 to 2019 as a mental health professional where I treated federal inmates suffering from mental health and substance abuse concerns. I also worked as a police officer for 10 years. I have been in private as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Substance abuse provider in the state of Georgia since 2002. In my private practice, I provide individual, groups, and family therapy with school aged children and families. I also currently work with the Georgia Department of Public ( Officer of public Safety Support). In this current position, I provide clinical supervision to clinicians while whey provide counseling to first responders dealing with trauma and other mental health problems.



David Markwell, PhD, LPC, LCMHC, NCC, ACS, CPCS,
BC-TMH, EAS-C



David is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), and National Board-Certified Counselor (NCC). He is licensed to practice in Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina.
He is also a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider and is certified to provide telehealth services in Florida and South Carolina.

David is a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor and an Approved Clinical Supervisor. He previously served as the Clinical Supervision Chair for the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia (LPCA). He served as President of the LPCA of Georgia from 2023–2024 and was honored as the recipient of the 2017 George C. Podein Counselor of the Year Award.



David Hough, CPS-AD



It is David Hough's first time presenting at GSAP. He completed his associate's diploma in social work with a plan to complete his bachelor's in social work over the next couple of years. David works at Advantage Behavioral Health Systems in a men's recovery program as a Certified Peer Specialist and he has an Addiction Specialist Certification. In addition to being in the mental health field, David is a musician and an artist and uses these talents to aid clients with navigating their sobriety journey.



Carla Jefferson, MS, APC



Carla Jefferson is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and behavioral health clinician whose work is grounded in Adlerian Psychology and centered on helping individuals move from discouragement toward belonging, contribution, and purposeful change. Her clinical work includes hospital-based treatment at Peachford Hospital and court-based behavioral health services, where she supports adults experiencing substance use disorders, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and co-occurring mental health concerns. A graduate of Mercer University, Carla integrates Adlerian concepts of encouragement, social interest, and accountability with CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and recovery-focused interventions. She is especially committed to facilitating transformational group work that fosters courage, insight, and meaningful behavioral change across both acute and justice-involved settings. Her professional perspective is also informed by prior leadership in corporate training and program implementation, where she developed a strong foundation in communication, systems thinking, and collaborative problem-solving. Her professional work is further informed by a longstanding commitment to service, mentorship, and volunteer engagement that reflects Adlerian values in both clinical and community spaces.



Timothy Pierce-Tomlin, MS, LPC



Timothy is an LPC in Athens, Georgia. Timothy primarily works with young adults and couples, with a focus in poly, kink, and LGBTQ+ spaces. When not counseling, Tim is an active martial artist and runner. Tim participates actively in his community, having been on city council and in various district positions. In his free time Tim loves to play games, go on walks, and spend time with his family.
